Big year for the OSQ

Brisbane City Hall Organ
Brisbane City Hall Organ

2026 will have plenty going on for the members, and interested organ people. Read on.

Big news of four visiting organists. Daniel van der Moezel at St Johns 17 March, Vincent Dubois at City Hall 23 June, Ben Sheen at City Hall on 4 August, and Jennifer Chou at City Hall 10 November. Details in our Calendar of Events. These are all public concerts (and the City Hall ones are free)

Members will be interested in travelling this year..... Murwillumbah on Anzac Day to hear a Chris Trikilis special recital, and Toowoomba in late May to visit organs and to hear Dr Phillip Gearing on the great St Lukes Cathedral organ.

Closer to home, an exciting visit to the grand Willis Organ of the Brisbane City Hall on 9 May, which is always a popular venue. Of course the popular series of organ concerts at City Hall will start on 24 March, and continue monthly until November. More details in our Calendar of Events.

A special series of Lenten organ and voice concerts will be on the program at St Stephens Cathedral through March.

Dr Steven Nisbet will present his popular Baroque to Bacharach concert in June on the spectacular Allen digital organ at the Merthyr Road Uniting Church.

What a feast, for new organ patrons, as well as us 'serious' ones. Again, go to Events.

We have though said goodbye in January, to a long term Brisbane organ identity Charles Clark, especially associated with organ music at Holy Trinity Anglican in Fortitude Valley.

Finally if you want a position as an organist look no further than the Southport School, which has a historic St Alban's chapel with a fine pipe organ. Check with the school to express an interest.
